The highly anticipated return of Tadej Pogačar, the reigning world champion, is set to ignite the cycling world this Saturday at Strade Bianche in Italy. Pogačar, eager to get back in the saddle, has expressed his excitement for his season debut.
"Strade Bianche holds a special place in my heart," Pogačar shared, referring to his impressive track record at the race. "I'm aiming to continue that success and make some more unforgettable memories this weekend."
The UAE Team Emirates-XRG has assembled a formidable squad for the race, including Pogačar and a talented group of riders: Isaac Del Toro, Jan Christen, Felix Großschartner, Domen Novak, Florian Vermeersch, and Kevin Vermaerke.
"We're expecting some tough competition," Pogačar acknowledged. "The start list is stacked with talent, and it's always an honor to race against the best. It should be an exciting battle for the fans."
Pogačar's last competitive outing was a memorable one, as he claimed victory at Il Lombardia last October. That win was just one of an incredible 20 victories in 2025, showcasing his dominance across various races and disciplines.
But here's where it gets controversial: with the addition of young talent like Paul Seixas, who is being touted as the heir to Pogačar's throne, the question arises - is Pogačar's reign coming to an end? Or will he continue to dominate and silence the doubters?
This year's Strade Bianche, the 20th edition, promises to be an epic battle. With 14 gravel sectors spanning 64km, the race will test the riders' skills and endurance in the picturesque Tuscan landscape.
The men's race will commence in Siena at 11:40 local time, with an expected finish in the iconic Piazza del Campo around 16:30 local time.
So, who will emerge victorious? Will Pogačar continue his winning streak, or will a new champion rise to the occasion? The cycling world awaits with bated breath.
