During a discussion on talkSPORT's Inside Chelsea show, Cundy stated, 'In certain games, you'll see it [Santos and Caicedo]. In others, he might not. Santos can play as a 10 if needed.'
While Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez are currently the top contenders for the No.10 role, Santos' versatility and attacking abilities make him a valuable asset. Santos has demonstrated his ability to score, netting 11 times in all competitions last term, suggesting he could thrive in a more advanced role.
However, Santos has been exceptional in a deeper midfield role alongside Caicedo, providing stability and ball recovery for Chelsea. His ability to quickly move the ball on after receiving passes makes him a key player in the midfield.
Despite his versatility, Cundy emphasizes that Santos' primary role is in midfield, especially with Chelsea's strong attacking options. He concludes that Santos should not be expected to play as a No.10, as the team already has elite attackers like Palmer and Joao Pedro.
